Welcome to Stop Shaken Baby Syndrome Inc., the nonprofit organization dedicated to the eradication of Shaken Baby Syndrome through education and awareness.

In September 2007 through collaborative efforts, Cindy Franciosa and Shannon Byron, both of Massachusetts, founded Stop Shaken Baby Syndrome Inc.

Cindy, a loving, dedicated mother of two daughters, came to a passion for spreading Shaken Baby Syndrome awareness after reading a survivor’s story in a parent chat room. Saddened by the injuries an innocent child had sustained, and knowing they were completely preventable; Cindy with great determination decided to stand up and fight to protect children.

Shannon Byron, is a mother of three beautiful daughters of which her middle child is a Shaken Baby Syndrome survivor. Chelsea, Shannon’s daughter (Read Chelsea's Story Microsoft Word - Chelseas story for web page_docx[1].pdf (339,7 kB) )was diagnosed with Shaken Baby Syndrome on February 14^th, 2001; she sustained a severe brain injury resulting in Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, Epilepsy, and Stomach Reflux. Having directly felt the devastating effects of SBS in her own life, Shannon with great determination began to spread awareness.

Together Cindy and Shannon have made great strides in SBS prevention through awareness, and continue to grow and expand by providing lectures, classes and gaining media attention to their cause.

Through our contacts we have created a network that supports the our cause and allows us to generate new ideas on how to continue our mission helping us to provide free education and support throughout New England.
